THE place to stay of you want to visit the Chateau de Versailles during two days. This impressive palace is very famous in France thanks to its location and its Gordon Ramsay restaurant ; indeed you can discover the famous french castel during the day and enjoy a 2 Michelin-star dinner the evening at just 500 meters away !
The last renovation made a very trendy design hotel with everything you need: comfortable 5-star rooms , huge and peaceful gardens, underground Guerlain SPA and reknown restaurant. For sure, this hotel represents the perfect parenthesis few kilometers aways from Paris where bourgeois like to come. However be careful for your reservation to book in the Palace building and not in the Pavilion – less prestigious – where are lowest room categories.
The Trianon Palace opened in 1910 and has been renovated last time in 2008, it is composed of 199 guest rooms and suites divided into 2 buildings: the Palace and the Pavilion. We booked a Deluxe Suite – 45 sqm – with separated living-room at an exclusive rate of 200 EUR/night thanks to a private sales offer (vente-privee.com).
Living
Very contemporary style in a fully-renovated Renaissance building ; the white facade symbolizes all the class of this 5-star property where you can find luxury eveywhere. I will not review the Pavilion building as I didn’t go inside.
Reception, corridors and other indoor areas mixes both modern material with classical design while outdoor gardens are maintened in the purest French tradition. The whole property – Palace, Pavilion and gardens – represents more or less two hectares.
The Guerlain SPA is underground and includes a large pool, steam and sauna rooms as well as an entire floor with treatment rooms.
Room
We had the chance to arrive straight after an interior renovation where most of rooms had been renewed. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite designed a lovely style – both modern and chic – with carpet in rooms and marble in bathroom.
From the windows at the top floor we were able to see Trianon Palace gardens and even the Chateau de Versailles… What a view !
I could complain about TVs that were very outdated, even if flats, with a bad image quality. Maybe you can expect more when you pay the 1200 EUR/night regular price.
Dining
Unfortunately we didn’t enjoyed any breakfast, lunch or dinner at restaurant… We only had room-service breakfast which was not good at all with very few choice and poor food quality.
However as you can see on the picture we assisted to a marriage preparation by Gordon Ramsay restaurant staff and it looked tasty and gorgeous !
Level of exigency
Smily and polite service even if they were not prompt to answer our needs each time, particularly at the Concierge desk where the supposed “Clef d’Or” we spoke with was very unpleasant.
When we made our stay the Trianon Palace were just acquired by Hilton, the staff were not so well-trained and a bit “cheap” ; probably now they put senior people with experience.
Stay from July 17th to 18th 2010
