Mira Moon Hong Kong, A Boutique Hotel For Design Lovers

Mira Moon Hong Kong, A Boutique Hotel For Design Lovers

Hong Kong is known for its skycrapers excessiveness and crowded atmosphere. Finding a quiet and peaceful cocoon can be quite a challenge, especially for boutique-hotel lovers. So here I am! I found the perfect cozy place in the very centre of Hong Kong Island.

Few years after visiting the sister property – and first opened – Mira Hong Kong on Kowloon side, I finally reached Mira Moon in Causeway Bay district for a four-night stay. I heard a lot about that boutique hotel size property, especially thanks to its unique interior design, in a location surrounded by big chains and hundreds-room size hotels. And I have to say its reputation is really, really not usurped at all.

Design & Facilities

Member of Design Hotels collection, Mira Moon Hong Kong impressed with its great interior design by Wanders & YOO. As they say, the hotel proposes a “refreshing reinterpretation of Chinese traditions in contemporary Hong Kong”.

And it’s absolutely brilliant: that design is well integrated in the building and it’s indeed a very fresh mix of modern and Asian style. Just look at that amazing lobby: some beautiful ornaments on walls and a huge wooden masterpiece on the ceiling. Wow!

Fitness center

Of course, because of its boutique size, the number of facilities is quite limited. The hotel offers a Champagne Bar near reception on 5th floor, a discreet Supergiant restaurant on the level below and a fitness center for sport addicts. More than enough for me!

Accommodation

With only 91 rooms for 35 floors, the hotel is able to propose four to five rooms max per level and insure a good soundproofing quality. The Half Moon room I had was absolutely quiet, no noise whatever from the inside or outside. Believe me, it’s rare!

The room design follows the rest of the hotel, the creative direction made an exceptional work to make it unique. In the bedroom, the wall cladding is really stunning and includes all main components: bed frame, TV, dressing and mini bar. Should I mention the Victoria Harbour view?

Bathroom is no exception to that outstanding conception, featuring a modern standalone bathtub, wooden furnitures and white marble floor. Imagine yourself in the bath, with a glass of Champagne and looking at Hong Kong skycrapers… I really liked it!

Dining

I had the chance to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at Supergiant – Spanish-tapas inspired – restaurant. Everything is a-la-carte – with the addition of a small sweet delicacies buffet for breakfast – and I must say I have been very impressed by dish quality.

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs with caviar

I love eating scrambled eggs at breakfast, and surprisingly at Mira Moon Hong Kong they come with… caviar! At no extra cost. It was a first try for me and that was really good!

Dinner - Catalan canelones with braised beef

Then I tried several dishes for lunch and dinner, I particularly enjoyed their Mira Burger and Catalan canelones with braised beef. A fine dining venue at decent prices, the best combination :)

Level of exigency

Staff is very discreet at Mira Moon Hong Kong. Once you have your habits there, they recognize you and go the extra mile to enhance your stay; that was particularly true at Supergiant restaurant.

Receptionists were also very professional and friendly, making check-in/check-out processes smooth and without any issue. It might not be the same service quality as Peninsula HK or Upper House, for sure, but the value for money is unbeatable.

Conclusion

My new home in Hong Kong! Good price, good service and amazing design, that’s three success factors that explain – to me – the good reputation of Mira Moon Hong Kong. Ideal for both leisure and business trips, close to city’s main attractions and Time Square business offices. I would recommend to book a Half Moon room or higher in order to get a high floor and nice Harbour view.

Stayed from January 10th to 14th, 2019 – Sponsored media stay, but this article reflects 100% of my opinion and thoughts.

The Mira Moon hotel opened in 2013 and is composed of 91 rooms and suites. I stayed in a Half Moon Room – around 35sqm – which public rate starts at HKD 1,900/night.
