The Siam Hotel: A High-End Urban Resort in Bangkok

The Siam Hotel: A High-End Urban Resort in Bangkok

I love Bangkok for its variety of luxury hotels. After staying one night in the city center, I decided to retreat and indulge at The Siam Hotel, a recent peaceful place along Chao Phraya river far away from the fuss.

Concepts of boutique hotel and urban resort are more and more developed in the luxury hospitality industry, but it’s pretty rare to find them aggregated in one place. This is the idea of The Siam Hotel in North Bangkok, offering guests a stunning experience of living in large green spaces along the river with very few accommodation (39 suites and villas). Actually I already experimented this kind of high-end venue in Vietnam and to me that’s really the best form of luxury holidays.

Living

Nestled apart from the busy city center, when you arrive in the area you are expecting everything but a top-notch urban resort. And that’s the strength of The Siam Hotel: offering a large cocoon of luxury with a gorgeous Art Deco & Thai design – by Krissada Sukosol Clapp and Bill Bensley designers – in the middle of nowhere. And only for happy few.

When you enter the resident-only area of the hotel, you are immediately caught by a huge Wow factor. To be honest, this is one of the most impressive interior design I ever seen: the green place in the middle of the main building, where Suites are located, is absolutely AWESOME.

Outdoor Pool by night - The Siam Hotel

On riverside you can find the exclusive pool villas, the residence’s outdoor pool and two restaurants – Thai and Western cuisines. There also, the design and plant arrangements are just perfect. And cherry on the cake, a complimentary limousine boat is available to offers a convenient access to Bangkok’s most touristic places – Grand Palace, Wat Arun, etc. – and Saphan Taksin BTS station.

Accommodation

I stayed in a Siam Suite, the first category of suites and I believe they all offer same layout and space (around 80sqm). Art Deco influences are very present, especially in the living room and bathroom. Designers did a fantastic job.

Furniture and decoration are luxurious and refined – but not opulent – and the marriage with the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of the overall residence is perfect. It’s also important to notice that entertainment system proposes complimentary audio and video on demand, including recent titles. This is rare and very appreciable.

If you look for a river or resort view, I would recommend to book a higher suite category and obviously for the most incredible experience you should go for a pool villa. As far as I know, this type of accommodation is totally unique in Bangkok.

Dining

Breakfast was mainly a-la-carte – my preference – with a large salt and sweet selection, all fresh and homemade. We were only 5 or 6 guests at a time, it was really pleasant and orders came pretty fast.

Regarding lunch and dinner, I always chose Thai food from Chon Thai restaurant – well, why coming in Thailand to eat a Club Sandwich? – and each dish was delicious. Do not expect a high level of food preparation, this is not the purpose, since Thai food is basically simple. However tastes, flavors and the overall setting are truly nice. I particularly enjoyed the wok-fried Australian beef tenderloin with mushroom, exquisite!

Level of exigency

Each suite & villa at The Siam Hotel offers a butler service and due to the small number of room they are very proactive with guests, providing very personalized attentions. My butler, Sumet, perfectly organized my stay – from the arrival to departure, including a complete tour at Grand Palace – and carefully answered by needs. This level of service is important for such a five-star location.

Conclusion

This place is definitely a beautiful gem. At this writing time, it’s even ranked #1 among all others Bangkok’s hotels on TripAdvisor. If you can afford it, I would advise to RUN for it as the experience you will receive is totally exclusive and changes from the usual luxury city hotels.
