Known as the “St-Tropez of Alps”, Courchevel is a dream place for luxury travel lovers with its amazing selection of high-end hotels, shops and fine-dining restaurants. Let me introduce Le Strato, a luxury boutique hotel designed like a family chalet.
Owned by the family who created Rossignol ski brand, Le Strato Courchevel is settled in one of the best location of that ski resort. Slopes are available right away after ski room’s exit and city centre is 10-min walking distance with easy access to luxury stores; just perfect for shopping and winter sports!
Design & Facilities
The boutique size of Le Strato makes it a luxury cocoon with a warm and family atmosphere. It’s simple: you feel like at home. A chalet-style home.
Musicians at lounge bar
Interior design by Aime Cecil and Pierre Dubois is pretty sophisticated – I love the combination of light and flashy colors – and the overall result is absolutely elegant, contemporary. The hotel’s decor consists also in antiques and modern art pieces scattered all over the house.
Spa by Sothys
I would like to mention the STUN-NING Spa by Sothys – with mountain view and large indoor pool – allowing relaxation, body treatments and fitness over 800sqm. A pure haven.
Accommodation
Honestly, accommodations at Le Strato are awesome. All rooms and suites have view over pine trees and mountains, some of them with a terrace.
Deluxe Suite bedroom
I stayed in a Deluxe Suite with a large terrace overlooking Cospillot ski slope. The interior design follows the ambience of the residence, a modern chalet-like style with upscale furnitures.
I particularly enjoyed the huge bathroom and its spa-like atmosphere. White marble, mood light and Sothys luxury amenities. Gorgeous!
Dining
I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Baumanière 1850, the one Michelin star restaurant of Le Strato managed by Chef Jean-André Charial – two Michelin stars with its own restaurant in the South of France – and assisted by Chef Lowell Mesnier.

The cuisine is inspired by the Mediterranean with a touch of surrounding mountains; the perfect alliance of sea and snowy peaks! The tasting menu we had for dinner was an amazing discovery.
A Baumanière style millefeuille
For breakfast you can expect a large buffet with pastries, local yogurts and freshly squeezed juices while eggs and pancakes are available a-la-carte.
Level of exigency
I really have to point out the quality of the service. Whatever directly or proactively, Le Strato’s staff were always prompt to answer guest’s needs according to five-star standards. Restaurant attendants have been notably up to the job and Chef’s reputation; this is how you can recognize a true luxury destination.
A special mention for ski room helpers who were so friendly and so careful to assist me for my first-time-since-16-years skiing session.
Conclusion
Le Strato is definitely the best compromise in term of size and upscale facilities, considering the large choice of luxury hotels in Courchevel. Run by a family putting high attention to details, it was for me a fantastic place to stay in for both sport & style!
